Our Growth Story
Our Saving Innocence team has experienced explosive growth over the past decade. We have grown from one paid staff member (our beloved founder, Kim Biddle) in 2010 to 33 in mid-2022. We are projected to reach 40 staff by the end of this year. The number of kids we have served and supported since our founding stands at over 2,000.
We currently lease the ground floor of an original craftsman era home in Hollywood. We outgrew this setup years ago and have been doing without the office space we need to run our business operations and, perhaps most importantly, to provide the counseling, safe environment and emotional “home” for the kids we serve. The inflated price of renting a space appropriate to our needs in Los Angeles has made it more attractive to purchase our next location and customize it to fit our programs. However, we can’t do this without your help.
To serve the growing needs of the kids we serve and our community, we need approximately 10,000 square feet with ample parking, as well as nearby access to public transportation. Our new home will require a combination of smaller spaces to accommodate program management and operations alongside with the many confidential counseling and therapeutic services that we provide to youth. Additionally, we’ll need conference rooms for meetings and trainings; and a large space adequate for all-team gatherings and client celebrations such as birthdays, graduations, and baby showers.
We’re looking for a place in the heart of Los Angeles that will feel like the home so many of the kids we serve have never had…a warm, safe, happy space where they can relax, learn, and play. We can’t make this dream a reality without you. Please help us build our Hope House.
“Every human being on our beautiful planet holds within them an essence and reflection of divinity, an innocence that deserves to be loved, honored, and protected.”
Kim Biddle, Founder, Saving Innocence
Hope for Our Kids
Our new home will provide space for the wide range of service offerings the kids we serve require. The Hope House will allow us to:
Support Our Foster Families
Provide a facility for our foster agency staff to meet, train prospective foster parents, and provide ongoing family support.
Provide Counseling
Create a safe space for our Saving Innocence mental health therapists to work in confidential meeting rooms with youth, helping them navigate the long journey back to health.
Host Celebrations
Dedicate a home base to celebrate our staff and the youth we serve at every turn, including birthdays, graduations, and baby showers.
Teach Life Skills
Provide a learning area for the youth we serve to receive the mentoring, tutoring, and skills they need to be successful.
Play
Design a fun, warm, and comfortable environment conducive to play and self-expression. Play therapy is evidenced to have positive and lasting effects on children healing from trauma.
Collaborate and Advocate
Meet as staff to prepare and strategize as we lead the largest co-located Human Trafficking Task Force in the nation: The Los Angeles Regional Human Trafficking Task Force.
Conduct Business Operations
Build adequate office space for our case management and advocacy staff to work and strategize. We must be able to securely house confidential information. We also need a staging area to store and distribute donated items to meet the tangible needs of the youth we serve.
“Thank you, Saving Innocence, for giving me another chance at life.”
